Mopar ’11 Charger: First Photos of Limited Run Hemi Special, Priced at $39,750

Mopar fans, rejoice: Chrysler’s in-house performance division has released detailed information including prices and the first real life photos of its new Mopar ’11 Charger special outfitted with custom upgrades inside and out. The limited edition Charger follows in the footsteps of last year's Mopar version of the Dodge Challenger and will be built in 1,000 units, 900 of which are destined for the U.S. and 100 for Canada.

Power comes from the same 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 370 horsepower and 395 lb.-ft. of torque found under the bonnet of the redesigned 2011 Charger R/T. However, the company promises improved acceleration thanks to the "Super Trac Pac" option, which includes a specially calibrated engine controller that is said to match maximum engine power and transmission shifting to the differential for the Mopar '11 Charger.

New Dodge Charger TBi Powered by Alfa Romeo’s 1.75 Liter Turbo Engine

Now here’s some news we weren’t expecting. The Chrysler Group announced today the premiere of a new variant of the 2011 Dodge Charger bearing the TBi moniker, which stands for Turbocharged Boosted Induction. The Charger TBi is powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine sourced from sister company Alfa Romeo. The Italian flavored 1.75-liter powerplant is the same one found on a variety of Alfa models including the Giulietta and 159, as well as the upcoming 4C sports coupe previewed in Geneva last month.

On the 2011MY Charger, the force-fed four-pot delivers a maximum output of 225HP and a peak torque of 250 lb-ft / 340Nm at just 1,900 rpm.

The Detroit automaker said that the gasoline engine “ensures performance that matches or exceeds that of a 3.0-litre V6 whilst still delivering the moderate fuel consumption which is typical of a compact, 4 cylinder unit”. The new powerplant will be matched exclusively to a new automatic "TCT" twin dry clutch transmission with eight gears.

Dodge Uncloaks Redesigned 2011 Charger, gets New 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar

In what could be one of the less exciting reveals of the year after all those scoop and police car pictures / videos hit the web these past few months, the Chrysler Group today officially unleashed the civilian version of its 2011 Dodge Charger. However, the revelation is still not over as we'll have to wait for the interior shots and the complete details on the mechanical upgrades.

For 2011, the redesigned Charger moves a little bit closer design-wise to the Detroit firm's 1999 concept model of the same name - though, not near enough to get us keyed up. At the front end, Dodge modernized the Charger with its new "split crosshair" grille, a restyled bumper and new headlamps. The aluminum hood design is also new and now features dual "scallops", while the windshield is laid at a "faster" angle.

Moving on to the car's profile, we see that the firm's designers took a good look at the 1999 Concept during the restyling phase adding similar body-side scallops. The big news, however, is at the rear as the 2011 Charger adopts a full-width tail lamp design that incorporates no less than 164 illuminating LEDs and is inspired by the late 60's Charger.
